Coaching with Physical Process 2.0

Your coaching work with clients becomes more powerful when you can attend to your own embodiment and that of your client. What might be possible when you can see and hear the patterns in your client’s embodied process – and have the skills to leverage these patterns to coach your client to a deeper level? With this seven session virtual course, you will practice using deeper Gestalt skills and techniques powerfully in the virtual world. This could be a game-changer.

Our bodies carry our life experiences, in our musculature, our stand and our posture. Over time, we take on a physical shape that moves beyond habit, and into a fixed structure – a Character Structure. In this engaging experiential workshop, you will be exposed to five physical Character Structures. You will learn about the shape/energy/movement of each Structure, typical re-occurring life themes, and ways to tap into these strengths and work with the dilemmas of people having a particular Structure.

Relevance of this material to International Coaching Federation (ICF) Core Competencies and the Gestalt Stance is reinforced as we incorporate presence, using self as an instrument, considering the person and their environment, experimenting and attending to the emergent presence.

If you have attended the in-person Coaching with Physical Process 2.0, you will be in a sub-community of learners to practice, experience virtually and strengthen your skills to do this work with your clients.

Learning Objectives

Participants completing this workshop will be able to:

• Notice patterns for using one’s own physical process while coaching;

• Learn about, trying on and experimenting with five Character Structures as a lens to perceive a client’s embodied expression;

• Experiment with expanding the client's awareness and choices for action through asking powerful questions, facilitating experiments, and co-creating embodied practices for ongoing learning;

• Understand the ethical standards and contracting guidelines for coaching with physical process;

• Relate coaching with physical process skills to the ICF core competencies; and

• Practice with peer learning group to deepen your skills, competence and confidence.
